This webinar explored recent state legislative initiatives focused on increasing funding and providing additional financing for transportation infrastructure. In the past year, several states legislatures have enacted measures to bolster transportation revenue an create new sources of funding for use on transportation projects. Douglas Shinkle from the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) provided insights on recent legislation from the states, and discussed trends related to transportation funding and finance.
The webinar featured two state officials who reviewed recent transportation legislation in their state.
- Colorado State Senator Faith Winter, Chair of the Transportation & Energy Committee, will discuss the Sustainability of Transportation System legislative package signed by Governor Polis earlier this year.
- Deputy Secretary Nick Donohue from Virginia DOT will talk about the Road Usage Charge (RUC) pilot program that was established through a larger transportation package the Virginia legislature passed in 2020.
