This event took place September 11, 2018 in Miami, FL in conjunction with the Council on Rail Transportation meeting.
Event Description
The BATIC Institute hosted two roundtable sessions on September 11, 2018 in conjunction with the Council on Rail Transportation meeting being held in Miami, Florida. These sessions built on the funding and financing topics covered during two previous roundtables held in Washington, DC and in Oakland, CA. One roundtable session focused on freight rail investment and the other focused on passenger rail oriented development.
This roundtable on freight rail investment provided a forum for state DOTs and other stakeholders to exchange ideas and best practices, as well as identify common challenges and opportunities in economic development. Innovative projects from around the country were highlighted to share the latest in successful financing products. The roundtable included participation by representatives of the Federal Railroad Administration and the Build America Bureau, who were available to discuss federal resources available for advancing such projects.
